Hye…for so long being quiet..Now I’m back…just to sharing an excitation during a 10th Kalimaran Festive which is held on 12 – 14 April 2012.. KALIMARAN FESTIVE commonly is an annual cultural celebration of the Muruts. It’s celebrates the richness of culture and basically presents most of their cultural aspects. Therefore, to know the Muruts closely, Pesta Kalimaran is the venue. For Me as One of the community of Murut ethnic, this festive it’s pretty much fascinating..why?? because mine itself masih banyak yang perlu untuk diketahui tentang adat-istiadat, bahasa dan banyak lagi….even I’m a Murut it’s doesn’t meant that I know much about Murut culture and frankly speaking I’m weak to knowing deeply about Murut Language, due it’s coming from my childhood, I’m not totally exposure with Murut Language, rather than my others siblings. Never mind at least I’ve put my effort to knowing and learning my own culture and of course I’m proud to be a Murut.
Ok Here we go….Let’s enjoy the colour of Kalimaran …
This is a Sabah Murut Cultural Centre
(Pusat Kebudayaan Murut, Sabah) located strategically at Pulong Tenom, Jalan
Tenom-Keningau.

Nice Smile from a dancer which is waiting their turn to perform.
Rarangkol : Necklaces of
various types of beads usually in a certain order .
Holong : A pair of bracelets. If made from shell
(probably the shell of the giant sea clam.
Babaru puputul : Bark vest. ( comes
from the puputul tree (Artocarpus kunstleri). It is cut length wise to fashion
sleeveless jackets and loincloths. The material of the jackets is strengthened
with transverse darning. It may be decorated with simple beadwork motifs.
Their impressing my lenses when walking around
with this colorful costume….cantik adik-adik nie…see the BUNGKAS
(belt) & a waist bands of silver coins (called a
SINAMPILA – in Murut Timogun).
Now days, it’s hard to finding the original
SINAMPILA, most of them just as an artificial one and quiet light compare with the original it’s very
heavy. Even though you put in a high price
to buy the original one, I guess, no one more to sale it…it’s a precious
heritage for our MURUTS.
When I see them, I’m proud
to be a Murut cuz the richness of culture and
yet has been keep as a golden
heritage until now. I’m just put my lenses to them while their trying to give a nice angle to many more
cameraman. As we know mostly
of the Muruts especially Ladies using something in in their head right? So
let’s me tell what it’s about ya…it’s
call :
1) Salupai - A headdress
of several rows of beads. When there are many strings, they are shaped into a
round skullcap.
Rarangkol Necklaces of various types of beads usually in a certain
order .
Some of the participant of “Perarakan
Budaya” Getting ready to
perform….
-Candid capturing, from
their costume, I guess this is Murut sipitang (forgive me if it’s was mistake
ya)….apa pun mereka2 ini kelihatan sungguh
gagah perkasa.
- A bit for this costume, Modern cotton aba (aba ra kain) are cut as shorts with
lengths of cloth attached to front and back, more or less like apron. Red cloth
is common because red is used to symbolise bravery.
I like this capturing pretty much…bukan senang tau mau jumpa mcm
nie..i guess there’r must be daughter & mum or cucu & nenek..cute nya
budak kecik tu kan…
- A crowded waiting the
arriving of CM Sabah, Datuk Sri
Panglima Musa
Aman.
-Bungkas-
- Colorful variety of Accessories-
- Tininggaulun-

long time ago)
Ada Bran???? Capture with it??? Nothing
to scare about….it’s just a heritage jar bah….
And the greatest intensity of Kalimaran Festive is Kalimaran Beauty Contest or ratu Kalimaran (Ralaa kalimaran) . Ralaa means young lady which is hardworking, strong-minded, diligent and trustworthy.
-Here the seven finalist of Ralaa Kalimaran, unfortunately, I can’t even captured it closely..biasala urang kici..ini pun kena himpit2 sisip2 baru dapat ambik itupun sipi2 ja..semuanya cantik ya…
